Setonomy FAQ

Short answers about accounts, data, price and features. Each feature has more in the Help.

Do I need an account?

No. Setonomy needs no registration or sign-in, not even for Premium: the subscription is tied to your Apple Account.

Does Setonomy automatically create a workout plan?

Yes. The planner automatically creates a workout plan from your answers to ten questions about your goal, days, time and equipment: 4, 8 or 12 weeks, with a split and exercises. It picks the split to fit your days and goal (full body, full body A/B or A/B/C, upper and lower body, push, pull, legs, or upper/lower and push/pull/legs), or you choose it yourself. During workouts, Setonomy suggests weight and reps for progressive overload. The questionnaire and preview are free, with no account; every exercise in the preview and starting the plan come with Premium. More under Training plans.

Does Setonomy work offline?

Yes. The app makes no internet connection for its features, and the Premium status is stored on the device so Premium also works offline.

Where is my data?

Only on your iPhone. Setonomy has no server, no tracking and no ads. A backup of your iPhone to iCloud or a computer can include the app's data. More under Backup and privacy.

How do I back up my data?

As a backup file in JSON format, optionally encrypted with a password (AES-256-GCM). You pass the file on yourself, for example to the Files app. There is no CSV export.

Can I import data from other apps?

No. Import is meant for backups that Setonomy made itself, encrypted or not; Setonomy checks the file before applying it.

Does Setonomy work with Apple Health?

If you want it to. Setonomy writes workouts and body weight to Health, reads body weight and, if you allow it, your heart rate during a workout, for example from AirPods Pro 3 or a chest strap. More under Apple Health.

How much does Setonomy cost?

The app is free. In the US, Premium costs $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year; for new subscribers, the yearly plan starts with two weeks free. More under Premium.

What does Premium add?

Multi-week plans from the questionnaire, detailed progress, each muscle in the 3D model, workout comparison, heart rate insights, a custom rest per exercise, calculated warm-up sets and pinned records. Workouts, suggestions, history and the muscle map work without a subscription.

Which devices does Setonomy run on?

iPhone with iOS 26.1 or later.

Which languages is Setonomy available in?

English and German; the app follows your iPhone's language.

How many exercises does Setonomy have?

Over 800 exercises with step-by-step instructions, over 520 of them as 3D animations with the working muscles highlighted in color. More under Exercises.

Do the suggestions come from an AI?

No. Setonomy’s suggestions and planner follow fixed rules and use no AI model; the app contains no machine-learning framework and sends nothing to the internet for them. How it calculates: see Weight and rep suggestions.

Are there ads or tracking?

No. Setonomy shows no ads and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software; the App Store lists “Data Not Collected”.
